Stephen "Steve" Forrest Wise

March 21, 1961 - August 17, 2023

Stephen "Steve" Forrest Wise, age 62 and a resident of Franklinton, passed away peacefully at his home Thursday August 17, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. He was a 1979 graduate of Bowling Green School, where he played on the high school football team as an original member of the “Jolly Green Giants” before “Buccaneers” became the school’s moniker. Steve worked for Associated Grocers for 30 years as a merchandiser and later supervisor. He served hundreds of stores throughout Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas during his career, meeting countless store associates and friends. He enjoyed traveling to the Smokey Mountains each year and had been on several family vacations out west to Colorado, Montana and other areas. Steve loved yard work and mowing his grass. If he wasn’t outside working he was spending every minute with his beloved grandson, having fun and making memories.

Survived by: Wife of 40 years: Jackie Jones Wise; Son and a Daughter in law: Cody and Alana Wise; Daughter: Ashley Wise and fiancé Colt Manning; Grandson and Best Friend: Kingsley Wise; Son: Alan Wise; Sister: Becky Bickham; Sisters in law and Brothers in law: Sandy and Ray Chaisson, Kim and Jude Trapani, Stacey Fritter; Nieces and Nephews: Cassie Bickham, Blaine and Brandy Bickham, Nolan Chaisson, Raechelle Gonzales, T-Ray Chaisson, Kamryn Brumfield, Kaitlyn Brumfield, Dakotah Toney; Special Friend: Eric Pierce, who has been so very helpful to Steve and the family; Also numerous great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends

He was preceded in death by his parents J.D. Wise and Lutha Mae Varnado Wise, brother Richard “Bigun” Boutwell, brother in law David Bickham, mother in law Betty Talley, grandmothers Dixie Crain, Emmie Schillings, aunt Naomi “Red” Ard.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home (1109 Bene Street, Franklinton) on Sunday August 20th from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm and after 10:00 am on Monday. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 pm Monday with Bro. Travis Taylor and Bro. Mike Stafford officiating. Burial will follow in the Seal Cemetery.
