Case 1. On August 19, 2023, Officers with the Covington Police Department stopped a vehicle for speeding on East Boston Street and discovered a large quantity of narcotics, including the following: 1,130 suspected Ecstasy Pills, 149 grams of suspected marijuana, and Drug Paraphernalia. The driver, 37 year-old Quinton Deon Perry of Baton Rouge, was charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Sch. I, Possession with Intent to Distribute Sch. II, · Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Maximum Speed Limit. In continuance of their investigation, on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, Detectives performed a forensic examination on electronic devices recovered from Perry's vehicle. Within those devices, Detectives discovered several images depicting child sex abuse materials and sexual abuse involving animals. Quinton Deon Perry was subsequently charged with Pornography Involving Juveniles Under the Age of 13 (17 counts) and Sexual Abuse of Animals (3 counts). Bond was set at S200,000.00.
Case 2. On Wednesday, August 23, 2023, members of the Covington Police Department assisted the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation with a search warrant at a residence, which resulted in the arrest of 47 year-old Henry Louie Ortiz of Covington on the charge of Pornography Involving Juveniles Under the Age of 13 (100 counts). Additional charges for Ortiz are expected. Bond was set at S250,000.00.
