On Monday (August 28, 2023), shortly after 4 p.m., the Covington Police Department, along with deputies from the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office, responded to a shooting in the 900 block of West 32nd Avenue.
Upon arrival, Officers located a 10-year-old boy suffering from a gunshot wound. The juvenile was transported via ambulance to an area hospital and was later released.
Officers learned that 19-year-old Stephen Dajon Rogers Miller arrived at a residence after an altercation and fired several gunshots toward a group of bystanders, injuring the 10-year-old boy.
Officers located Miller nearby at his residence, where he was taken into custody without incident.
Miller was later booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail on the charges of Attempted 1st Degree Murder, Obstruction of Justice, and Possession of Sch. I Drugs.
