Perry Talley Announces Candidacy for Louisiana State Representative for House District 75

“Let us not seek the Republican answer or the Democratic answer, but the right answer. Let us not
seek to fix the blame for the past. Let us accept our own responsibility for the future.”- JFK

Perry Talley is announcing his candidacy for Louisiana State Representative for House District 75. Talley is a lifelong resident of Washington Parish and currently serves on the Fire District 7 Board as Chairman and the Library Board. He was asked to Chair and help reorganize the Watermelon, Fruit & Vegetable Association Corporation, a non-profit 501c3 organization, to bring back the Washington Parish Watermelon Festival and promote our local products, economy, and Parish branding. He also is a local business owner (The RIO Company Unlimited, LLC.), commercial farmer, and volunteers at Ben's Ford Christian School as the 4-H Leader and Assistant Track and Field Coach.

Perry Talley believes he has a different perspective on the needs of Washington Parish residents, businesses, landowners, and local governing bodies than other politicians and offers a different approach to governing. Talley believes that elected officials should truly be representing, listening to, and honoring the wishes of their constituency, not the constituency trying to weigh the rhetoric and empty promises of politicians that qualify to get on a ballot. He knows that to be a successful representative of the people, he must put personal biases aside and always keep the needs of the constituents in plain sight.

Perry Talley is a Bogalusa High School graduate - Class of '90, a graduate of Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness and a minor in Animal, Dairy, and Poultry Science, and has had coursework that has included Military Science leadership, vocational education, economics, finance, management, business law, and rural development. Talley was elected to the Washington Parish Council in 2015 representing Council District 1, and served as Council Chairman in 2018. While on the Parish Council he worked diligently on the Washington Parish Charter Commission (2017-2019, Chairman 2018-2019), Washington Parish Government Personnel Committee (2019-2020, Chairman 2017-2018), Washington Parish Solid Waste Committee (Chairman 2016-2017 and 2019-2020), Washington Parish Government Infrastructure Committee (2016-2020), Washington Parish Government Finance Committee (2016-2020), and Washington Parish Government Transportation Committee (2016-2018).

Perry Talley knows that the “all or nothing” stance that some politicians have in government rarely works, and when it does, it rarely works well. He believes the constituency deserves better. Talley believes that the constituency deserves professional people working on their behalf, sitting down like adults, working through differences, and finding solutions to make a better Louisiana and a State Government that works better for the citizens. He knows that one of the greatest needs for Washington Parish is infrastructure like a 4 lane highway to connect US98 to I12 and a 4 lane highway to connect I55 to I59, and that this “bone structure” gives us a foundation to build economic growth, create good paying jobs, raise per capita income and standard of living, and expand our tax base to help our local governments without further burden to our taxpayers. He wants to see the 90% of our workforce, that leaves Washington Parish everyday to go to work, be able to work here, spend their money here, and most importantly use their talents here to create a future for our parish. Talley believes it's time to revolutionize the DMV to work better for both patrons and employees. He wants better legislative oversight over PIAL (the folks who rank our fire districts) to insure a fair standard for all our fire districts and more savings in insurance to our homeowners and businesses. Talley knows that a representative democracy is supposed to work for the constituency, not the other way around.

Perry Talley is asking for your vote and support. Let's get there together!
