Huey Louis Schilling Sullivan

March 23, 1924 - July 12, 2023

Huey Louis Schilling Sullivan, age 99 and a resident of Mount Hermon, passed away Wednesday morning July 12, 2023 at her home. She was born in Mt. Hermon on March 23, 1924 and was a 1941 graduate of Mt. Hermon School. Huey was recently honored as being the oldest graduate to attend the Golden Grads ceremony for the school. After graduation, she moved to New Orleans where she met her husband, raised her family and resided for most of her life. But she always considered Mt. Hermon home and loved it very much, returning for all the holidays and family gatherings. She finally did return home to the old family farm in the early 1970s and went on to obtain a Licensed Practical Nurse degree from Southwest Mississippi Community College. Huey worked as a nurse at various hospitals in New Orleans, McComb and Dallas, TX for many years. Upon retiring back to Mt. Hermon, she enjoyed taking care of her home, working on the land and spending precious time with her beloved family and friends.

Survived by: 3 Daughters and a Son in law: Jill Sullivan of Mt. Hermon, Jane and Owen Joyner, Janet Sullivan all of New Orleans; Grandchildren and a Great-grandson: Alaine Azcona and her son Jack, Brian Azcona, Matthew Azcona, Edward and Kathryn Joyner, William Joyner; Also numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends

She was preceded in death recently by her son John P. “Mel” Sullivan, husband John Patrick Sullivan, parents Louis Schilling and Wilkie Alford Schilling, son in law Chuck Freeland.

Visitation will be at Mount Hermon Baptist Church on Saturday July 22nd from 9:30 am until 11:00 am. A funeral service will be held in the church at 11:00 am Saturday with Rev. Ray Wuerzer officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Hermon Cemetery.
