Career Prosecutor Launches Campaign for Judge, Gains Early Support

Career prosecutor Casey Allen has announced her candidacy for the Division B seat in the 22nd Judicial District, which includes St. Tammany and Washington Parishes. The Oct. 14 election will be held to replace Judge August Hand, who is retiring.

Once Allen decided on the run, she contacted District Attorney Warren Montgomery, who quickly offered his endorsement.

“I hired Casey as a prosecutor because I needed highly ethical, highly professional, and highly competent assistants,” Montgomery said. “She performed well in all three categories. Now, we need a judge who will seek justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with her God. I have no doubt Casey Allen will be that judge, and that’s why I fully endorse her.”

Allen, a longtime St. Tammany resident, will turn 41 next month. She began her career as a prosecutor in Orleans Parish 10 years ago, before coming to the 22nd Judicial District. She has most recently worked for the D.A. in St. Charles Parish.

“It has been my honor to work in the interest of justice and public safety for the last 10 years, and I’m proud of my record,” Allen said. “That Warren has offered his full support of my candidacy is very meaningful to me and, I hope, to the voters of this District. We all value safety and want to ensure the criminal element does not further infiltrate our community. I’m committed to bringing conservative principles to the bench while adhering to the law as it is written, and will always work to support the Constitution and legislative intent.”

Allen holds two bachelor’s degrees from LSU, and obtained her law degree from the University of Miami. Prior to law school, she lived in Madrid, where she taught in public schools.

Allen is married to Hank Allen, and the couple has three children. The family lives near Mandeville.
