Bogalusa District A 8th Annual Back 2 School Supply Drive-thru Giveaway Was Great Success

Bogalusa District A Councilwoman Gloria Kates reports that the 8th Annual District A Back 2 School Supply Drive-thru Giveaway on Saturday. July 29, 2023 was once again a great success in assisting the children and their parents from around the city and parish with supplies this year. To say the least, their bags were filled with glue bottles/glue sticks, spiral tablets, erasers, filled line paper packs,  pens, pencils, ruler, stuffed pencil bags, coloring crayons, color pencils, and hot color folders.  

Kates expressed her thanks: to Director Larry Brown of District A Neighborhood Association for providing the venue to pick up supplies at Poplas  Quarters Rec Center, as well as, refreshing water during tbe event; to Stephanie Yarbrough for assisting in selection of school supplies at our local  retail stores; to Eric Yarbrough for supplying initial transportation; to Carlos McGowan and Pat Rhodes for loading supplies; to Rev. Stanley Nathaniel for providing back to school shirts; to Thomas Kates ,who was absent for the event, for providing awesome moral support; to all Volunteers and Supporters. 

Set-up and distribution of the school supplies were Gloria Kates, Tony Laurant, Regina Powell, Pat Rhodes, and Stephanie Yarbrough. 

Finally, Councilwoman Kates, expressed her heartfelt thanks to all parents/designees and students who participated . Kates said, “This project of a Back to School supply giveaway has been initiated just about since my initial tenure as Councilwoman and continues each year. This idealism is due to the importance of developing and investing in our children. To God be the Glory. Best Regards and Everyone please stay safe.”
