Obituary

Clyde Cox Jenkins

December 19, 1938 - June 18, 2023

Clyde Cox Jenkins, age 84, was escorted to his heavenly home by his heavenly Father on Sunday, June 18, 2023, while at his residence on Shelby Road in Covington, LA, where he was surrounded by his children and grandchildren. He was born on December 19, 1938. He loved and lived his life for Jesus, his family, and friends. Despite the many challenges and struggles he faced; you never heard him complain. He loved to help others and taught his children and grandchildren how to serve God and others. He loved to make people laugh and always had something funny to say that was sure to bring a smile to your face. When he was faced with physical challenges, he just saw it as an opportunity to prove how powerful his God is. He never let those hardships change his faithfulness in his faith. He was our “Hero”, a real-life Superman. His pride and joy were his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who he was dearly loved by. His favorite pastimes were working in his yard and riding his lawnmower. As a resident of the Lee Road Community for 84 years, he was well-known and thought of by his family, friends, and neighbors.

Thank you, Dad, for teaching us how to keep getting back up and instilling that “don’t quit” attitude. When things get tough and life gets a little crazy, we will hold on to your words, “Just Don’t Panic”, and apply them to our lives. Our hearts have a huge void that can never be filled, but we hold on to the hope that we will see you again one day, Dad, on the streets of gold, where you have been made completely whole. You are already dearly missed by all who knew and loved you.

Clyde Cox Jenkins is survived by his four children: Diane (Teddy) Lambert, Denise (Murphy) Manton, Dale (Kim) Jenkins and Denny (Michelle) Jenkins; one step-son: Anthony (Stacey) Lambert; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; his brother and sister-in-law: John and Nellie Jenkins; stepsister and brother-in-law: Joy & Charles Neil; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife: Shirley Brock Jenkins; his parents: Jesse & Inie Jenkins; ten brothers and sisters; and eleven step-brothers and sisters.
