Obituary

Martha Crain Herron

October 15, 1930 - June 14, 2023

Martha Crain Herron was born on October 15,1930 to Albert and Alice Crain in Franklinton, Louisiana. She was one of six children. Martha was married to the late Willie Herron for 60 years and they resided in New Orleans, Louisiana. From this union, three children were born~ Keith, Kathleen, and Karen. She was a member of Greater Tulane Baptist Church where she served many years as a Deaconess until the time of her death.

Martha completed her formal education in Franklinton, LA and began college at Southern University in New Orleans. Once her children were of school age, she became employed as a Teacher's Aide at their school, Edward H Phillips Elementary. Later, she worked with the elderly and foster care children at the State of Louisiana, Office of Children and Family Services.  She retired 30 plus years ago and remained active volunteering in local elections at the voting poll.

Martha's love for her husband Will, her children and grandchildren, was primary and monumental in her life. She believed in the importance of a relationship with God and leading by example. Integrity, honesty, dignity, and caring of others were other important life principles that she instilled in each of them.

Martha appreciated a healthy lifestyle which included walking and exercising at Curves, as well as reading the Bible and completing word puzzles. She delighted in the natural beauty of flowers, plants, and trees; watching them grow to maturity.  She also enjoyed discussing politics and current events with all who dared to engage (smile). On many occasions, Mama prayed for and offered words of encouragement to uplift friends and family.

Mrs. Herron leaves to mourn her beloved children, Keith (Alma), Kathleen H. Robinson (Rodney), Karen; granddaughters, Lindsay R. Tartt (Preston) and Lauren Robinson; one sister, Mattie Route, and many friends and loved ones.

We will miss Mama dearly and ask that you continue to keep us in your prayers. We appreciate all the love in action that was expressed in your many calls, visits, and expressions of kindness.
