Katherine Dudley Scott

Miss Katherine Dudley Scott peacefully passed away at Heritage Manor of Franklinton on Wednesday, June 21, 2023. Katherine was a native of Washington, Mississippi, and had made Franklinton her home for the past thirty years. Born August 29, 1929, in Natchez, Mississippi, Katherine graduated from Washington High School and attended Mississippi College. She was a longtime employee of Cole’s Department Store in downtown Natchez and often reminisced about the beautiful clothes and shoes she helped shoppers select. She moved to Franklinton in 1993 and enjoyed playing Scrabble, dominoes, and zilch with her many nieces and nephews. Katherine could often be found at the kitchen table coloring or crafting and sometimes even played baseball in the backyard with her nephews. She loved family events and was a constant companion to her sister Jewel until her death in 2014. Katherine will be fondly remembered for her unfailing memories of her family and important events and for her quiet listening and attention to details.
Katherine is survived by her eight nieces and nephews: Janice (David) Westfaul of Pascagoula, Mississippi; Breaux (Sandy) Tageant of Poplarville, Mississippi; Theresa Tageant of Hammond, Louisiana; Cookie Ruffino of Ponchatoula, Louisiana; Tim (Pam) Tageant of Mandeville, Louisiana; Jeff (Toni) Tageant of Franklinton, Louisiana; Anne (Tom) Clayton of Sun Lakes, Arizona; and Bruce (Liz) Libbey of Houston, Texas. She is also survived by twelve great nieces and nephews and twelve great-great nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents Eugene Dudley Scott and Henrietta Clay Rushing Scott, her beloved sisters and their spouses, Emma Gene “Scottie” and AJ Libbey, Jewel and Bobby Tageant, her nephew Jay Libbey and her great nephew Robert Scott Tageant.
Katherine will be memorialized graveside in Natchez, Mississippi, and interred near her parents at the Natchez City Cemetery.
