Alma Bateman Magee

October 4, 1944 - June 23, 2023

Alma Bateman Magee, age 78 and a longtime resident of the Clifton Community, passed away Friday June 23, 2023 after a lengthy illness. She operated a flower and plant nursery at her home, supplying the Red Barn Mall in Clifton, where she worked alongside her sister for many years. More recently Alma operated 2nd Chance Nursery after the closure of their Red Barn Mall. She always loved making different crafts and crocheting. Alma also enjoyed target shooting and spending time with her family.

Survived by: Daughter: Della Magee of Clifton; 3 Sons and Daughters in law: Jason Willard Magee and Samantha Hagen of Scottsdale, AZ, Mitchell Ward Magee and Angel Magee of Hammond, Harrison Albert Magee and Leslie Magee of St. Amant; 6 Grandchildren and Spouses: Justin Anthony Magee and Samantha, Connor Garrett Magee and Raini, Savannah Ashley Magee, Ezekiel Kaliponi Paul Magee, Addison Jennings Magee, Jackson Edward Magee; Great-grandsons: Maverick James Earl Magee, Finnley Sage Parker Magee; Sister: Sara Francis Nelson of Clifton; Sister in law: Judy Magee of Orlando, FL; Niece and Nephew: Hilaria Nelson Broadwater and Chris Broadwater of Hammond and their daughters Emma Grace, Rose Kathron, Maggie Francis, Ruby Jane

She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years James E. “Jimmy” Magee, parents Winfred Bateman and Erlane Bankston Bateman, father in law and mother in law Ed Magee and Juanita Hart Magee, brother in law Frank Nelson.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Tuesday June 27th from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm and after 11:00 am on Wednesday. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 1:00 pm Wednesday with Rev. Eric Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Rushing Cemetery in Tylertown, MS.
