Obituary

Flavius Michael Sharp

January 31, 1938 - May 7, 2023

Flavius Michael Sharp, age 85 and a longtime resident of the Enon Community, passed away Sunday afternoon May 7, 2023 at St. Tammany Parish Hospital. He was retired after many years as a school bus driver for the Enon and Franklinton schools. Flavius worked in retail stores prior to serving as a bus driver. He was a longtime active member of Enon Baptist Church where he sang in the church choir and was a member of the Joy Singers vocal group and the Men’s Sunday School Class. Flavius volunteered with the 4-H Livestock shows and at Mile Branch Settlement during the Washington Parish Fair each year. He and his wife were chosen as the Mile Branch Settlement Catalog Honorees in 2013. Flavius had a passion for music, Bluegrass and Gospel, often playing his acoustic guitar with any other artists willing to get together. The family loved vacationing at their cabin in Townsend, Tennessee and he played music with a group at the Rocky Branch Center in Walland, TN each time they went. He was always a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Survived by: Wife of 61 years: Beryl Jo Wood Sharp; 2 Sons and a Daughter in law: Michael and Natalie Sharp, Ron Sharp and Amy Jimenez; Daughter and Son in law: Karen and James Thigpen; Grandchildren: Gracie Thigpen, Macaullay Sharp, Annalise Thigpen, Angela and T.J. Gay and their daughter Arabella; Sister and Brother in law: Norma and Rami Mailhos; Brothers and Sisters in law: Ray and Mary Ann Sharp, Kenzie and Barbara Sharp, Larry Sharp; Sisters in law: Catherine Sharp, Ruth Anna Sharp, Charlotte Ginn; Also numerous beloved nephews, nieces, other family members and many friends

He was preceded in death by his parents Iddo and Valma Sharp, young brother Howard Sharp, sister Ruth Helen Sharp, brothers Barney Sharp, Austin Sharp, Floyd Sharp, brother and sister in law Laverne and Shirley Sharp, sisters and brothers in law Ida Nell and Mike Hunt, Dorothy and J.L. Borque, brother in law Troy Ginn and other family members.

Visitation will be at Enon Baptist Church (14049 Hwy. 16, Franklinton) on Saturday May 13th from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the church at 2:00 pm Saturday with Rev. Chris Wheeler and Rev. Dean Register officiating. Burial will follow in Knight Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers: James Thigpen, Eric Ginn, Karlton Ginn, Zachary Ginn, Jacob Niswonger, Dawson Niswonger

Honorary Pallbearers are nephews Randall Ginn and Chris Ginn
