Michael Anthony Washington

June 5, 1960 - May 18, 2023

Michael Anthony Washington was born on July 5, 1960, in Bogalusa, La, to the late Josephine Washington and JC Chatman. He departed this life at the age of 62 on May 18, 2023.

He attended Washington Parish Public Schools. Michael gave his life to Christ many years ago. Over the past few years, he would discuss Bible Scriptures with his siblings. One of his favorites he shared was 1 Corinthians 13:4-7,  "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres." 

He leaves to morn his precious memories his daughter, Shavonna Crosby; two grandchildren, Ja’Kiyah Imani Crosby and Chr’Nandez Mar’krz Magee; sisters, Gwendolyn Vernon, Fort Worth, TX., Delphine Armstrong, Stone Mountain, GA., Idena “Dee Dee” Brock, Patricia Dykes, Tonya Dykes, and Corisa Dykes all of Franklinton, LA., Valeria M Diggs (Hason), Burleson, TX., Tresa Dykes, Independence, LA., Jan Y Chatman, Biloxi, MS., and Phenise Chatman, Gulfport, MS; brothers, James Earl Chatman and Allen Donnell Chatman, both of Biloxi, MS., Curtis Chatman and Donnie Tate, both of Franklinton, LA., aunties, Marie Moore, Barbara May, and Ollie Jean Allen all of Franklinton, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Josephine Washington and JC Chatman; grandparents, Bessie Brumfield Washington and William “Son” Washington, Veola Brumfield Harvey and LV Harvey; a  grandchild, Kentrell Lamar Crosby; three sisters, Virginia Dale Warren, Clara Evette Palmer, and Christole Young; three brothers, Robert E Washington, Tommy L Chatman, and Jerry G Chatman; brother in-law, Calvin R Vernon, Sr., whom he jokingly called “Pok Chop”. 

A drive through viewing will be held Friday May 26, 2023 at Crain and Sons Funeral Home 2000 Washington Street Franklinton, LA from 3:00-6:00PM. Funeral Service will be Saturday May 27, 2023 at 12:00PM at Crain and Sons Funeral Chapel. 

Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Franklinton, LA are in charge of arrangements.
