The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office is asking the public's assistance in locating 45 year-old Thomas Mutz of Amite on outstanding warrants.
Chief Jimmy Travis says Mutz was identified as the person of interest in the burglary of Grilliot Construction which is located on Club Deluxe Road in Hammond, behind the old Fun Farm venue. Earlier this week, several deer camera images of Mutz were released in which Mutz was quickly identified through many tips coming in via social media, Crime Stoppers of Tangipahoa, and law enforcement officers who were familiar with him.
Through the course of the investigation, it was learned Mutz broke into a storage container and took several tools, chainsaws, and other items, as well as the very deer cameras from which his picture was taken. When Mutz removed the cameras from the location, he unknowingly activated them, sending photos of himself to the owner's phone.
Mutz currently has warrants for Burglary and Failure to Appear.
Chief Travis asks anyone with information regarding the location of Mutz to contact Detective Bobby Bradberry at 985-902-2045, OR if you wish to remain anonymous, please call Crime Stoppers of Tangipahoa’s anonymous tip line at 1-800-554-5245 or visit www.tangicrimestoppers.com and click on the P3 Tips icon or Submit A Tip! You may be eligible for a cash reward.
