Olga America Ortiz

September 20, 1926 - April 7, 2023

Olga America Ortiz, age 96 and a resident of Franklinton, passed away peacefully at home on Friday evening April 7, 2023. She was born on September 9, 1926 in Mocha, Ecuador and lived there most of her life. Olga moved with family to Metairie, LA in 1979 before moving to her daughter’s home in Franklinton in 2017. As a child, she worked as a seamstress in the family’s business. Olga later designed and sowed beautiful dresses and clothing that she sold to people from Brazil, Spain and other places, when they visited her shop in Ecuador. After moving to Louisiana, Olga later completed the process to become a United States Citizen, something that she was very proud of. She loved shopping, watching her favorite daytime TV shows and spending time with her family. Her family was the most important thing in her life, and there are fond memories of praying the rosary each nighttime with her grandchildren.

Survived by: Daughter and Son in law: Sophia and Bob Kleinpeter of Franklinton; 3 Sons: Marco Tobar, Javier Tobar, Daniel Tobar all of Metairie; Grandchildren and Spouses: Verlyn and Justin Dorsett of Franklinton, Christopher Suarez, Ashley and Luke Bowman all of Covington; Great-grandchildren: Ella Dorsett, Emmitt Dorsett, Jaden Suarez, Ava Suarez, Emma Suarez, Kaleb Suarez, Bentley Suarez, Sophia Suarez, Lukas Bowman, Asher Bowman; Brothers: Cesar Ortiz, Hugo Ortiz, Pepe Ortiz, Esperanza Ortiz; Also numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members

She was preceded in death by her parents Jose Ortiz and Maclovia Alarcom Ortiz, sisters Eliza Ortiz and Bolivia Ortiz.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home (1109 Bene Street, Franklinton, LA) on Tuesday April 11th from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 pm Tuesday with Rev. Randall Garcia officiating. Burial will follow in Carlee’s Garden Cemetery.
