Obituary

Nolan Joseph Fabre, Jr.

December 29, 1935 - April 6, 2023

Nolan Joseph Fabre, Jr., age 87, passed away on April 06, 2023. He was a resident of Ponchatoula, Louisiana and native of New Roads, LA. He graduated high school from the Acadia Baptist Academy in Eunice, Louisiana in 1954 where he was an All Star basketball athlete, captain of the basketball team, vice president of the senior class, and president of the Young Men’s Brotherhood. After graduating high school, he entered the U.S. Navy at the end of the Korean War where he attended the United States Naval Training Center in San Diego, California, Company 306. He was stationed on the LST 1158 (Tioga) ship for four years. He worked offshore after being discharged from the Navy and then was employed at Kaiser Aluminum in Gramercy, LA where he worked for 35 years, retiring from LaRoche Chemical as a maintenance supervisor and was instrumental in writing their safety manuals. He later on worked at Mulkey Pest Control in Hammond, LA for 10 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Mary Jane Magee Fabre; parents, Nolan Sr. and Verna Evans Fabre; brother, Bobby Fabre; and nephew, Brian Fabre.

He is survived by daughter, Melody Fabre Howes of Ponchatoula; daughter, Robin Fabre, M.D. and husband, Shad Ellison of Franklinton; son, Noland Fabre III “Jody” and wife, Rebecca Baham Fabre of Ponchatoula; four grandchildren, John Matthew Howes, Joshua and wife Karen Ellison, Lauren Ellison, and Colleen Fabre; brother, Timothy and wife, Mary Jane Fabre of Pride, LA.; sister-in-law, Dottie Fabre of Walker; nieces Cindy (Daryl) Hill and Lavonda (Mark) Wascom; nephews Chris (Kerri) Fabre, Benjamin (Meagan) Fabre, and Jonathan (Jody) Fabre; and beloved friend Beverly O’Quinn of Lafayette. He is also survived by numerous cousins.

Interment will be in the Line Creek Cemetery, Kentwood, Louisiana in a private ceremony. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Galilee Baptist Church at 11050 Greenwell Springs/Port Hudson Rd (Highway 64), Zachary, LA on May 20, 2023 with visitation starting at 10:00 A.M. and service following at 11:00 A.M.
