Estranged Couple Found Dead Near Slidell – Suspected Murder/Suicide - Child Called 911

Detectives with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office are investigating after two individuals are found dead inside a Slidell-area residence following an apparent domestic incident.

Shortly before 9:30 a.m. Saturday (April 1, 2023), STPSO deputies were dispatched to a home in the 1300 block of Belair Boulevard north of Slidell after a child called 911 to report he found his parents unresponsive and bleeding.

Responding deputies located a male and female deceased inside a bedroom at the residence.  A firearm was located nearby.  Also inside the home were two of the estranged couple’s children. The Department of Children and Family Services were called in reference to the children.

The St Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office took possession of the bodies and later St. Tammany Parish Coroner Dr. Charles Preston positively identified the deceased as 31 year-old Angel Smith and 31 year-old Rico Keller. The Coroner reported that the incident appears to be a murder-suicide and that autopsies will be conducted on Monday (April 3, 2023), so those findings are preliminary.
