District Attorney Warren Montgomery reports that on April 20, 2023 Frank Anthony Brugier, age 63 and of Abita Springs, pled guilty to 150 counts of possession of pornography involving juveniles and 1 count of Sexual Abuse of an Animal. District Judge William H. Burris sentenced him to 35 years in prison, to be served without the benefit of probation, parole or suspension of sentence.
In April of 2022, a special agent from the Louisiana Cyber Crimes Unit of the Attorney General’s Office, received a cybertip concerning the possible possession and distribution of juvenile pornography. The information he received included the defendants IP address and a description of the video in question. The video showed a pre-pubescent female exposing her private parts.
The agent did some further investigation and found that the defendant was a registered sex offender, having been convicted in 2006 of Sexual Assault in the Second Degree, out of Independence County, Arkansas.
In June of 2022, the agent obtained a search warrant and searched the defendant’s residence, seized the laptop and was able to view 150 pornographic files of juveniles under the age of 13 and 1 file of Sexual Abuse of an Animal. In a later interview, the defendant admitted to viewing and storing the files on his devise.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Iain Dover. Special Agent Brian Brown with the Cyber Crimes Division of the Attorney General’s Office investigated the case.
