The Pearl River County MS Sheriff's Office reports that on March 1, 2023, narcotics investigators and patrol deputies went to an address in Lumberton, MS in an attempt to locate and arrest Joseph Mayes on multiple warrants held by Pearl River County, Lamar County and St. Tammany Parish.
Joseph Mayes fled to inside the reside but investigators located him hiding in a closet. Joseph Mayes was placed under arrest and taken into custody.
Joseph Mayes was released from custody at the scene so that he could be transported by AAA Ambulance Service to a hospital in Hattiesburg MS. for medical issues. However, Joseph Mayes left the hospital before being treated, and is once again a wanted man.

All Suspects are Presumed Innocent Until Proven Guilty in a Court of Law.
Also arrested at the residence were James Mayes (age 72) for Hindering Prosecution, David Mayes (age 46) for Possession of Paraphernalia, and Christopher Mayes (age 48) for Hindering Prosecution and Felony Possession of Methamphetamine.
