Obituary

Brenda Sanders Ott

September 6, 1942 - March 17, 2023

Brenda Sanders Ott died peacefully in her home on Friday, March 17, 2023, after a lengthy illness.

Brenda was born on September 6, 1942, in McComb, Mississippi. After living in several towns throughout the South, she graduated from Bogalusa High School.

She was preceded in death by her husband Karl Ott, Jr.; her parents, Sis and Dut Sanders; two brothers Jimmy Sanders and Bobby Sanders, and a daughter-in-law Tammy Draughn Ott.

She is survived by children Kent (Anna Kay), Kerry (KK), Kelly Travis (Bo Jim), Karl III (Allison), and many grandchildren and great grandchildren, a brother and sister-in-law Tom and Georgia Ott and sisters-in-law Bobby Jo Ott and Betty Sanders. She was a long-time member of Osyka Baptist Church.

Brenda loved being a wife to Karl Jr. and a mother to her four children and a surrogate mother to all of their friends. She and Karl Jr. loved to entertain and always opened their house to friends and family, hosting family reunions and get-togethers big and small. Their home had a revolving door and was never empty during her children’s lives from birth through college.

Brenda was a loving, giving person always willing to help family members. No one ever left her home hungry or needing anything. Many of her nieces and nephews traveled great distances to visit her when she became seriously ill. She thought of them as her own children and treated them as such.

Brenda and Karl Jr. regularly traveled to cheer for their beloved Ole Miss Rebels and became fast friends with coaches and players alike, who often visited the Ott Osyka home during the off-season.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to Osyka Baptist Church Benevolent Fund.

Graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at Osyka Cemetery.
