Joe Blackwell

Joe Blackwell, former Police Chief of Sun, La, passed from this life March 2, 2023, at St. Tammany Parish Hospital, age 87. He was born February 14th in 1936 to the late Neal and Bevie Talley Blackwell.
He is survived by his sweetheart: Marilyn Cates; one son: Brian Blackwell; and Brian’s mother, Rene Blackwell.
He was preceded in death by his son: Alan Riley; his parents; three sisters: Corrine, Emma, and Velma; brothers: Shelton, Ed, Willie, Elbert, and Frank Blackwell; numerous Nieces and nephews, including Emma Alford and Daisy Blackwell.
Services will be at Brown-McGehee Funeral Home in Bogalusa, Louisiana on March 7, 2023. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the Service at 2:00 PM. Pastor Ricky Wilson will officiate services with interment to immediately follow at First Baptist Church of Sun Cemetery.
