March 5, 1935 - March 14, 2023

On March 5, 1935, in Franklinton, Louisiana, Emma Jene Magee was born to Artis and Emma Harvey. On March 14, 2023, an angel of God awoke her and called her into eternal rest.

The Washington Parish School System provided her with her education. At high school, she played on the girl's basketball team.

On December 24, 1955, Emma Jean married Gene Paul Magee. From this union, they had five (5) children: Lionell, Johnny, Paul, Sharon, and Paulette.

Early in life, she trusted the Lord to be his personal savior and joined Bethel Church of Christ Holiness.

Emma Jean was employed at Riverside Hospital, for many years.  She later retired.  She was a loyal colleague who constantly helped the medical professionals and nurses with the challenging patients. They formed the "JOLLY 12" Club while still working; consisting of 12 women from Riverside Hospital and the Franklinton region. They held numerous fundraising activities that allowed them to travel to different states outside of the Franklinton area.

You may mention one person who is skilled in the kitchen; she was unquestionably the one. amazing at it. We've all had the good fortune to dine there a lot. Eddie, her brother-in-law, questioned her, "Emma, what do you add in a particular meal? "A little bit of this and a little bit of that," she replied.  Never sharing her recipe, which is entirely in her brain, knowing how much of this and that to use as well as her own measurements for the ingredients. Everybody was always welcome at her table, and she would make sure they had plenty.

Emma Gene leaves to cherish his memories a daughter, Sharon (Andrew) Poole, two sons, Johnny and Paul Magee; all from Franklinton, LA; one grandson, Gene Lionell Magee, Jr., of Orlando, FL, two granddaughters, Jeanette Lynn and Kassidy Colton both of Seattle, WA.  Two sisters, Mary Jones of Cleveland, OH and Clara King of Franklinton, La, One brother, Willie Harvey of Cleveland, OH; and a host relative, friends and co-workers.
