At their meeting on March 14, 2023, the Franklinton Mayor and Board of Aldermen
- were presented a plaque from the Franklinton Youth Basketball Association as a thank you for supplying the association with needed equipment for this year’s season
- heard a presentation by a representative of the Pennington Group, a research institute associated with LSU. The group intends to do research in Franklinton, focusing on African Americans, to learn more about risk factors for dementia in rural communities
- voted to accept the resignations of Kevin Todd and John Herring
- heard the Fire Department and financial reports
During Public Participation, Dr. Vincent Johnson commented on the good condition of the streets and Joe Felder with the Franklinton Chamber of Commerce addressed the Mayor and Board about an event the Chamber is planning. See the video beginning at 26:20. The 1st Annual Spring Fling "Lawnchairs & Lemonade" event is planned for Saturday, May 6th from 8 AM to 2 PM on Pearl Street. Discussion continued until 50:40 in the video.
Mayor Route announced that the “Walk With the Mayor” will be at 10 AM on March 25th and an Easter Egg Hunt will be on Good Friday at 2:00 PM, The Mayor also reported on updated appraisals on two properties owned by the Town.
