Dorothy Crain Guy

January 28, 1929 - February 5, 2023

Dorothy Crain Guy, age 94 and a resident of Angie, passed away Sunday morning February 5, 2023 at Resthaven Living Center in Bogalusa. She graduated from Pine High School before earning a Bachelor’s degree from Southeastern Louisiana University and then her Master’s degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. Dorothy taught business courses to countless young people at Angie High School for many years and upon retiring served as Clerk for the Village of Angie. She was a longtime member of Angie Baptist Church, serving as church Treasurer for many years, and also taught Sunday School. Dorothy loved to tend to her beautiful flower beds and the African violets she kept indoors. She enjoyed crocheting quilts and other items and loved to cook delicious meals for her family.

Survived by: 2 Sons: Emmett Guy, Jr., Russell Guy both of Angie; 3 Granddaughters and Spouses: Luella and Gavin McCain, Angie Tepec and Wayne McCain, Jane and David Byrd; Great-grandchildren: Katherine, Owen and Gina McCain, Jose, Luis and Isavel Tepec, Hannah Guy, Maria Luna, Rebecca Messina Guy; Also numerous nieces and nephews

She was preceded in death by her husband Emmett Guy, Sr., parents McCauley Crain and Luella Smith Crain, 5 sisters Ilean Crain, Inez Crain, Bessie Crain, Doris Crain Fussell, Oma Crain, 5 brothers Edwin Crain, Ewell Crain, Delos Crain, Jessie Willard Crain, Hubert Crain and other family members.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Wednesday February 8th from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm and after 9:00 am on Thursday. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 10:00 am Thursday with Rev. Bryant Barnes and Rev. Larry Mizell officiating. Burial will follow in the Smith Cemetery.
