Obituary

Helen Roberson

March 3, 1947 - November 10, 2022

Helen Roberson was born March 3, 1947 to Ellis Robinson, Sr. and Velma Butler Morris in Mississippi.

She grew up in Bogalusa, Louisiana where she accepted Christ at an early age.

Helen moved to Chicago where she worked, extended here family, and met many friends, along with sisters and brothers in Christ at Christian Home Church. In her search for better opportunities, she relocated to Oakland, California in 1978. Here, she peacefully transitioned to glory on November 10, 2022.

She was preceded in death by her parents Ellis Robinson Sr. and Velma Butler Morris; reared by stepfather: LJ (Daddy LJ) Morris, two beloved sisters: Minnie Mae Ramsey and Myrtis Robinson; her beloved son: Donald Robinson, one grandchild: Khalelah Williams, one brother: Danny Ray Morris; one nephew: Shelby Ramsey and one niece: Rosa Lee Ramsey.

She leaves to cherish her memories, two daughters: Deidre Robinson of Oakland, CA. and Michelle (Canthes) Nunaley of Pittsburg, CA,; two brothers: Ellis (Beverly) Robinson Jr. and Bruce (Renee) Robinson of Houston, TX; two sisters: Dorothy (Joseph) Williams and Mary Coleman of Houston, TX.; three grandchildren: Christopher and Akelah Williams of Sparks, NV and Justin Miller of Oakland, CA., one great-grandchild: Penelope Miller; three devoted nieces: Evelyn Robertson and Emelda Mingo of Bogalusa, LA., Saadiqa (Jeffrey) Ali of Fairmount Heights, MD., one devoted nephew: Jeffery (Claretta) Ramsey of Disputanta, VA. and a host of nieces and nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Honorable mentions (friends and counselors) from churches, work and College of San Francisco State University.

Helen was proud, humble and she loved the Lord, family and friends. She loved to read, study and shared scriptures with anyone that needed a word. She will be truly missed by everyone who loved and knew her.

A Memorial Service will be at 1:00 PM on January 6, 2023 at Cook-Richmond Funeral Home in Bogalusa, Louisiana.
