Roy Duncan, Jr.
February 6, 1972 - January 11, 2023
Roy Duncan, Jr., age 50 and a resident of Pine, died Wednesday night January 11, 2023 at Riverside Medical Center. He was born in Picayune, MS on February 6, 1972 and was a longtime active member of Crain’s Creek Missionary Baptist Church that loved listening to gospel music. Roy was a fireman for the Washington Parish District 4 Volunteer Fire Department in Pine for 11 years, serving as a board member for the last 7 years. He worked as a cook at several restaurants in the area, including Pine Malt Stand, Pine Seafood and most recently The Steak House in Thomas. Roy enjoyed going to dirt track races, watching wrestling and spending time with his family. He never met a stranger and enjoyed visiting with the people he met, calling most everyone “baby”. Roy was related to everyone and loved all. He will be sadly missed by all his church family, fellow fireman, friends and family.
Survived by: Wife of 30 years: Robyn Jarrell Duncan; 4 Children and a Spouse: Kevin Duncan, Courtney and Hackley Magee, Alisha Duncan, Jordan Duncan; Granddaughter that he love dearly: GraceLynn Magee; Sister: Susan Seals; Step-Mother: Mae Duncan; Step-Sisters and a Brother in law: Kay and Eddie Peterson, Lisa McBeth; Brother in law and Sister in law: Jay and Kim Jarrell; Sister in law and Brother in law: Stacey and Paul Magee; Also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and many friends
He was preceded in death by his parents Roy Duncan, Sr. and Linda Nell Crain Duncan, sister Beth Ann Jones, grandparents Rod and Daisy Duncan, Mart and Annie Crain, father in law and mother in law Roy and Linda Jarrell, brothers in law Kenny McBeth, Robin Sellers, nephew Drew Pierce and several aunts and uncles.
Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Sunday January 15th from 5:00 pm until 10:00 pm. Visitation will continue Monday from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 pm Monday with Eld. Doyle Ball, Eld. Edward Penton and Eld. Richard Magee officiating. Burial will follow in the Crain’s Creek Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family wishes to express a sincere thank you to his special primary care physician Dr. Steven Ogden, nurse April and his staff and Dr. Brandon Bean.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to help with final expenses.
