First Homicide of 2023 for Bogalusa

The Bogalusa Police Department reported yesterday (January 30, 2023) that the Attempted Murder charge previously reported on January 28, 2023 against Quinton L. Porter has been upgraded to Second Degree Murder, following the death of 38 year-old Broderick Magee of Baton Rouge, becoming the first homicide of 2023 for Bogalusa.

The Bogalusa Police Department had previously reported that on Friday (January 27, 2023) at 11:30 PM, Officers received a call in reference to a gunshot victim located at 1015 Union Ave (Union Point Apartments). Upon Officers arrival, they observed a black male in the passenger seat of the vehicle who had a single gunshot wound to the head, but was still alive. He was transported to the Our Lady of the Angles hospital and was listed in critical condition.

The investigation established probable cause to arrest Quinton L. Porter on the charges of Attempted Second Degree Murder, Illegal Use of Dangerous Weapons / Instrumentalities, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
