Naomi "Ms. Lou" Kemp

November 3, 1933 - December 5, 2022

Naomi “Ms. Lou” Kemp, 89, a native and resident of Bogalusa, LA passed away on Monday, December 5, 2022.

She is survived by three sons, Mike Kemp (Becky) of Bogalusa, LA, John Kemp of Shreveport, LA and Wade Kemp of Bogalusa, LA; two daughters, Tori (Tommy) Stogner of Sandy Hook, MS and Cherie Kemp of Bogalusa, LA; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends and her special puppy, Beau.

Ms. Lou was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Kemp; father, Gus LaBorde; her mother, Bertha Busby Bell; her paternal grandmother, Caroline “Monnie” LaBorde; and two sisters, Barbara Darden and Francis Gay.

She was often compared to the woman of Proverbs 31 but in the eyes of her husband and children, she was much greater.  Ms. Lou loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren unconditionally and loved spending time with them.  She was a homemaker in every sense of that word.  Ms. Lou enjoyed hunting and fishing and spent many an hour deep in the Pearl River Swamp.  She was an avid crocheter and also enjoyed gardening, reading and creating things with her hands.  Ms. Lou loved to paint, make jewelry and also taught herself sign language and short hand.  She loved to study the Old Testament and taught vacation bible school and Sunday school for many years as a former member of Main Street Baptist Church.  Ms. Lou was also a huge fan of the New York Yankees.

Family and friends are invited to attend Ms. Lou’s funeral service on Friday, December 9, 2022 at Lee’s Creek Baptist Church, 1803 Lee’s Creek Church Rd., Bogalusa, LA at 3:00 pm with Rev. Allen Dennis officiating.  Visitation will begin at 1:30pm with interment to follow at Lee’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers:  Logan Brouillette, John Kemp, Jr., Dustin Kemp, Jack Stogner, Lance Stogner and Tommy Stogner

Honorary pallbearer:  Landyn Jarrell

Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home & Crematory in Bogalusa, Louisiana is in charge of arrangements.
