Richard Warren Smith, Sr.

April 2, 1948 - November 11, 2022

Richard Warren Smith, Sr. was born April 2, 1948 to the late Mary Carter & the late Joe Smith.

He served in the United States Navy & retired from Veterans Affairs as a Physician Assistant. 

Richard shared 44 wonderful years with his wife, Gwynderlyn Sampson Smith. He is the father of eight children, Rev. Najuma Pollard, Richard, Jr (Sam) Smith-Connell, Tera Duncan all of Los Angeles, CA, Kamilah Smith, Angela Smith, Richard Smith III, & Kei’Mora Magee-Smith all of Bogalusa, LA, and Justin Smith of Houston, TX; two sons-in-law, Felix Pollard and Acquanis Burrell; fifteen grandchildren, the late Daniel Browm, Dorian Pollard, Zuri Pollard, Terrell Sistrunk, Talon Sistrunk, Trevon Sistrunk, Kiyara Bembry, Violet Bembry, Royal Smith-Connell, Rex Smith-Connell, Ra Smith-Connell all of Los Angeles, CA, Kameron Powell, Keigan Powell, Kailani Smith, & Khaiden Smith all of Bogalusa, LA; two great grandchildren, Dilan Brown & Naiomi Brown of Los Angeles, CA; six siblings, Penny Mack, Cynthia Jackson, Glyn Smith of Bogalusa, LA & Ricky Hill of Jackson, MS, Joelnette Collins, Rickey Hill; sisters-in-law, Rhoda Brumfield, Atlanta, GA, Glender Williams, Chalmette, LA, Debra Sampson, & two brothers-in-law, Dennis Sampson of Bogalusa, LA and Lester Williams of Chalmette, LA;  an aunt, Ella Rose Lewis and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, God children & friends.

Visitation will be Friday, November 25, 2022 at Thirkield United Methodist Church 1108 Donnel Street Bogalusa, LA 70427 from 4pm to 6pm. Please wear a mask.

Viewing will be on Saturday, November 26, 2022 from 9am - 11am followed by funeral service at 11:00 AM at New Beginning Ministries 62075 Seal Road, Angie, LA 70426. 

Crain and Sons Funeral Home, Bogalusa are in charge of arrangements.
