Sylvia Ann Guidry Erk
August 5, 1935 - October 29, 2022
Sylvia Ann Guidry Erk departed this world peacefully at her home in Franklinton, Louisiana on Saturday October 29, 2022 after 87 long and wonderful years of life.
Sylvia was born in Erath, Louisiana on August 5, 1935 at 6 o’clock in the evening as the church bells rang. She was the only child of Alton and Irene Guidry. She was a lifelong resident of Southeast Louisiana, living in Erath, New Orleans, Metairie and Franklinton, Louisiana. She married William V. Bosch, Jr. and together they had three sons. She later remarried Albert J. Erk and together they founded Erk Scale Co., Inc., a scale service company in Franklinton, Louisiana.
Sylvia was never happier than when she was in her kitchen cooking for her grandchildren, who loving knew her as “Maw Maw.” She was known by her friends and family as someone who was larger than life and was always the life of any party that she attended. Even in trying times, she remained insistently positive and kept a “glass half full” attitude. She was an avid reader, often finishing entire novels within a matter of days. She leaves behind her cherished cookbook collection, extensive libraries of novels and big band music records, and her many pictures of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by: Two sons and daughters in law: William V. Bosch, III and Diane Bosch; and Daniel W. Bosch, Sr. and Sheila Bosch; Grandchildren: William V. Bosch, IV; Kenneth J. Bosch, Jr.; Kristina Distefano and husband Ryan Distefano; Daniel E. Bosch; Kody J. Bosch; Daniel W. Bosch, Jr.; and Kasey J. Bosch and wife Gabbie Bosch; Great-grandchildren: Olivia Distefano, Anthony (Bryce) Distefano; and Lane Distefano; Kolson Bosch; Brooke Bosch; and Peyton Graves
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert J. Erk; her son Kenneth J. Bosch, Sr.; her grandson Jeremy J. Bosch; and her parents Alton and Irene Guidry.
The family would like to especially thank Mary Warren, who assisted Sylvia for over thirty years in the care and upkeep of her home.
A family memorial service will be held in the near future.
