Fritz F. Hazelwood

June 29, 1957 - October 31, 2022

Fritz F. Hazelwood, age 65 and a resident of Franklinton, passed away at his home Monday night October 31, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Manchester, Tennessee on June 29, 1957. Fritz was the oldest son of the late Elrie and Andre M. Hazelwood. He was a graduate of Milton High School Class of 1975 and proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Fritz was a specialized welder, working on water towers across the eastern United States, for over 25 years. His retirement years,were spent gardening, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.

He leaves behind his cherished wife of 40 years, Darlene McElroy Hazelwood. A daughter Jennifer Hazelwood and grandchildren Jonah Hazelwood, Joylyn and Journey Payne. His siblings and spouses Sylvia H. and Mark Reuschel, Tami H. Wareham, Karl and Carmon Hazelwood. sisters in law Beth Brien, Terry McElroy, a brother in law Terry L. Jones and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his father in law Kenneth McElroy, mother in law and father in law Ann and Floyd McElroy, brothers in law Wayne “Bo” Jones, Barry McElroy and Kenneth McElroy, Jr.

A Memorial Service for his family and friends will be held at Victory Baptist Church, near his home, at a later date.
