Obituary

Bruce Wilson Magee

July 3, 1957 - October 3, 2022

“ I have fought a good fight, I have finished  my course, I have kept the faith; henceforth, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day; and not to me only, but unto all them that also love his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:7-8

Bruce Wilson Magee was born July 3, 1957 to his father, the late Elbert Magee, Sr. and his mother, the late Mandy Wilson Magee. He was a graduate of Franklinton High School in Franklinton, LA.

But most importantly, Bruce was a man of God. He accepted Christ at an early age and remained faithful to the Lord until his departure from his earthly home. On October 3, 2022, at St. Tammany Parish Hospital, Bruce declared, "I am ready but first I want to be sure that I am right with God.”

Bruce was a kind man and a friend to all. He enjoyed socializing. On any given day, Bruce was “under the tree” with friends, fishing with family, or hosting gatherings at his home.

Bruce was a hardworking man. He dedicated himself to any job that he did with a motto of “work smarter, not harder.” He worked for Portcargo Inc. on the New Orleans Riverfront for many years until he returned home to Franklinton where he worked for Creel Brothers until his retirement.

Bruce was a leader in his houshold and an excellent provider for his wife and son. Comforted by everlasting memories of Bruce are his loving wife Lora Magee; and his only child, son, Israel O’Keith (Dr. Erica) Magee.

Bruce was a man who valued family. His love for his grandchildren was undeniable. “ PaPa Bruce will remain forever in the hearts of grandsons, Azende O’Keith Magee, who he raised as his own, Isarael  O’Keith Smothers- Magee and Exander Magee; granddaughters, In’ziya Magee and Essence Magee; and great granddaughter, Azura Sky Magee, who he lovingly called his “Worm”.

In his final moments, Bruce’s thoughts were with his siblings and extended relatives as he stated, “Tell everyone that I love them". Cherishing childhood memories of Bruce are his five brothers, James Magee of New Orleans, LA; Ernest Mage of Biloxi, MS, Elbert (Torra) Magee, Jr. of Franklinton, LA, Gilbert (Robin)Magee of Atlanta, GA, Clinton (Keitha) Magee of Ocean Springs, MS; six sisters, Doris Jefferson of Ocean Springs, MS, Joyce Bullock, Allie Jackson of Biloxi, MS, Melinda (Dalton) Laster of Martin, MS, Hildred (Lloyd Sr.) Watson and Lisa of Tuscaloosa, AL

Also remembering fond moments with Bruce are his niece who he considered his daughter, Dr. Tamika Magee of Port Washington, MA, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

There will be a Drive Through Viewing 4:00PM-6:00PM Friday, October 14, 2022, at Crain and Sons Funeral Home-Franklinton, LA.

Funeral Services will be 12:00PM Saturday, October 15, 2022, at Bethel Church of Christ Holiness in Franklinton, LA. The interment will be at Bethel Church Cemetery.
