Attention Equestrian Fair Parade Riders

Franklinton Police Department Chief Justin Brown has advised that FPD, along with members of the Washington Parish Fair Rodeo Committee, the Washington Parish Fair Parade Committee, and Agents with the Louisiana Livestock Brand Commission will be inspecting horses during this year's fair parade.

As usual, each rider will need to show proof of a negative coggins test. In addition, absolutely no horses will be allowed in the parade that have ankle chains, chemical treatment, under cut hooves or any other soring or "Big Lick" shoes. This is a violation of Louisiana Revised Statute 14:102.1 Cruelty to animals; simple and aggravated.

Any person found attempting to ride in the parade on a horse that fits any of the aforementioned conditions above will be subject to arrest and have their animal seized.
