Marcell Cooper Graves

December 21, 1940 - September 18, 2022

Marcell Cooper Graves, age 81 and a resident of Franklinton, passed away Sunday afternoon September 18, 2022 at her home. She was a longtime member of Acy’s Creek Missionary Baptist Church that served her Lord at numerous churches as a pastor’s wife during the couple’s 48 years of ministry together. Later in life, after raising her family, Marcell went to college at William Carey University and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and then a Master’s Degree in Education. This was a lifelong dream of hers and an accomplishment she was certainly very proud of. Marcell had a generous spirit, always thinking of others before herself, including animals and her pets. She was always very giving of her time and energy to help others in need. Marcell had a special place in her heart for her pet dog “Chubby”. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved spending time with her family.

Survived by: 2 Sons and a Daughter in law: Phillip Graves of Franklinton, Chuck and Robin Graves of Pine; 3 Daughters and Sons in law: Shannon and Jerry Bickham of Franklinton, Cindy and Randy Creel of Pine, Suzonne and Ryan Jenkins of Franklinton; 11 Grandchildren and Spouses: Shelly and Jered Thomas, Sammy Graves, Ethan Graves, Adrian and Justin Gilmore, Callie and Zack Sheridan, Derek Martin, Deven and Camry Martin, Jay and Chelsea Miller, Colten and Caitlin Creel, Jessica and Jake Pritchard, Jadyn Jenkins; 11 Great-grandchildren: Taylor, Clara, Braiden, Blake, Sawyer, Elias, Alaina, Morgan, Ruston, Briggs, Catherine who is expected at any moment; Sister: Vondell Pierce of Franklinton; Brother and Sister in law: Willie Faye and Janet Cooper of Pineville; Sisters in law and a Brother in law: Gayle Cooper of Pine, Mabel and Roy Beall of Denham Springs, Wanzie Adams of Brewton, AL; Also numerous nieces, nephews and many special friends

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years Eld. J.W. Graves, grandson Spencer William Graves, parents Clyde Clifton Cooper and Ruth Mae Thomas Cooper, brother Eld. Clyde Everett Cooper, father in law and mother in law Bill and Nora Graves, brothers in law Jim Pierce, Billy T. Graves and Denman Graves.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Wednesday September 21st from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 pm Wednesday with Eld. Duane Ball and Eld. Donnie Broom officiating. Burial will follow in the Acy’s Creek Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
