Marvin Conerly

August 26, 1925 - September 3, 2022

Marvin Conerly transitioned from this life on September 3, 2022.

Marvin attended school at Bethel Church and later was employed as a Foreman with Prestressed Concrete in Mandeville, LA where he retired in 1980. Marvin also worked for REA electric company and could oftentimes be found on the Farm in Stoney Point with his Supervisor Mr. Howard. Marvin was a Craftsman and was no stranger to hard work.

Marvin served in the Navy from 1943-1946, he was drafted shortly after the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor.

Marvin married Shirley Harvey Conerly in 1943 and to this union of 74 years, ten children were born and they raised one Grandson as their own.

Marvin was preceded in death by his father: Arthur Conerly, Mother: Rhoda C. Conerly, Brother: Thomas Jefferson Conerly; wife: Shirley Harvey Conerly; grandchildren: Marcus Jeffery Porter and Justine Conerly.

Marvin leaves to cherish his memory: Ten Children, Silas J. Conerly (Joyce) of Gaithersburg, MD; Robert E. Conerly of Upper Marlboro; Lillian Mitchell of Seattle, Washington; Mattie L. Conerly-Porter of District Heights, MD; Harvey Conerly (Deonne) of Franklinton, LA; Albert C. Conerly (Ingrid) of Seattle, WA; Santa C. Jones (Lindsay) of St. Louis, MO; Sharon E. Conerly of Fort Washington, MD; Roy L. Conerly (Alice) of Mandeville, LA; Michael A. Conerly of Seattle, WA and Robert E. Conerly Jr. (Cassie) of Seattle, WA; 27 grandchildren,  over 30 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Drive through viewing Friday, September 16, 2022 from 4:00PM – 6:00PM at Crain and Sons Funeral Home.

Funeral service Saturday, September 17, 2022 at 11:00AM at Bethel Church of Christ Holiness with Elder Alvin Partman, Pastor and Bishop Lindsay E. Jones, Eulogist. Interment – Bethel Cemetery.
