Betty greatly enjoyed being involved in various activities in her life as she and Marvin changed locations in his work with Exxon. She was her happiest being a part of her churchs’ programs, especially Vacation Bible School, where she taught children’s classes and served as director. Betty enjoyed teaching Sunday School, participating and leading the WMU, and singing in the choir. If coaxed enough, she would sing a solo.

Betty loved her family greatly, those from her side and those from Marvin’s side. There were always good times at Paw and Maw Harvey’s house.

Betty was an excellent cook and worked for 22 years in the Topeka Tilton cafeteria. She was also an accomplished seamstress. She made much of her daughters’ clothing, including Ruth’s wedding dress.

Betty was an avid reader, with books stacked on shelves and every nook and cranny. Most of all, she loved her grandchildren and did her best, along with Marvin, to spoil them all.
