Shirley Smith McIntyre O'Connor

March 7, 1936 - July 3, 2022

Shirley Smith McIntyre O’Connor went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 3, 2022. She was born on March 7, 1936 in Mt. Herman, Louisiana. She was a long time resident of New Orleans, LA before moving to Slidell, LA. She worked in retail and then a banker before she became a licensed florist where she spent the rest of her working years. After she retired she spent her time serving others as a member of Lakeview Baptist Church. When she moved to Slidell, LA she enjoyed spending time with her family. Her great grandchildren brought her the most joy in her last years. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Lucious (L.C.) (Coot) Smith and Ruby Miller Smith; first husband, Carl McIntyre; second husband, Shan O’Connor, Sr.; Also preceded in death by all her siblings and spouses, Thomas (Lucille) Smith, Hardy (Hazel) Smith, Wendell (Jackie) Smith, James (Bessie) Smith and Jeanette (James) Miller. 

She leaves behind two children, Glenna (Sue) and Hamilton (Bo-Bo) Scott McIntyre; four grandchildren, Dana (Jennie) (Daniel) Holliday, Ashton (Lori) Marks, Bridgette (Justin) Chatellier, Megan Marks; Nine great-grandchildren, Chloe, Lakin, Alexa, Bailey, Meyah, Jake, Victoria (Tori), Gavin and Maeve; Numerous nieces and nephews along with many friends. 

We welcome all of our family and friends for Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Kentwood, 501 Ave. G. Kentwood, LA, from 9:00AM until religious services at 11:00AM on Friday, July 8, 2022. Interment Mt. Herman Cemetery, Mt. Herman, LA.
