Obituary

Sylvia Ann Harry

August 31, 1965 - July 8, 2022

A loving mother and daughter, Sylvia Ann Harry, was  called to rest on July 8, 2022.  Sylvia was born on August 31,1965, to Gladys Harry and the late Earnest Harry Sr.  She was raised in the Wesley Ray community, where she remained a faithful member of Wesley Ray United Methodist Church.

Sylvia attended Wesley Ray Elementary and graduated from Varnado High School. in 1984.

After high school, Sylvia attended Sullivan Vocational Technical School.  She graduated with a trade as a clerk Typist.  Sylvia was employed at Wesley Ray Elementary for 27 years as a Paraprofessional, devoted to her Pre-K students who adored her.  She was also employed at Pride and Hope Ministry as a caregiver.

Sylvia accepted Christ at a very young age.  She served as president of the usher board where she guided the up and coming youth ushers.  She also served as co-secretary for Vacation Bible School each year and Tribe #5 (Jason Harry Family).

She was preceded in death by her father, Earnest Harry Sr. of Angie, and brother, Earnest Harry Jr. of Hattiesburg, Miss; maternal grandparents, the late John and Estelle Ramsey; and paternal grandparents, the late Jason and Lottie Harry.

She leaves to mourn her mother, Gladys Harry of Angie; a son Jonathan (Aquevia) Spikes Sr. of Sorento, and a daughter, Regina (Chad) Bickham of Bogalusa; a brother, Kenneth Harry Sr., and two sisters, Cynthia (Charlie) Bullock of Angie, and Mimi (Kenneth) Perkins of Hattiesburg; 10 grandchildren, Jonathan Jr, Jathan, Brittnei, Jasyn, Jon Josiah, Dyson, Chad Jr, Chase, Chaston and Chasity; three nephews; four nieces; and a host of great-nephews and great-nieces; nine aunts and uncles; Rosa White of Angie, La, Col. Williams Harry of Stone Mountain, Ga, Annie (Willie) Bishop of New Orleans, La, Emma Harry of Angie, LA, Jean (Billy) Smoot of Bogalusa, LA, Mildred Perkins of Hartford, CT, Eastern (Darlene) Ramsey of Dover, DE, Larry Ramsey of Castro Valley, CA, Bruce Ramsey of New Orleans, La, a host of cousins, an extended family Aquevia Davis of Sorento, LA, Regina (Chad) Bickham of Bogalusa, LA and Jamar McGowan, Sr of Angie, LA as well as Chad Jr., Chase, Chaston, and Chasity Ladner and friends.

Services will be on July 16, 2022 at Wesley Ray United Methodist Church in Angie, Louisiana. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the Funeral Service at 2:00 PM.

Cook-Richmond Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
