Joseph Baldassaro

March 11, 1931 - June 30, 2022

Joseph Baldassaro, age 91 and a resident of Franklinton, passed away early Thursday morning June 30, 2022 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home. He was a native and former longtime resident of Marrero, LA before moving to Washington Parish with his family. Joseph worked as a clerk for over 45 years at the Rose Garden Center in Marrero and later worked at Lacox, Inc. in Franklinton. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. He loved tending to the cattle he kept on his farm and he also enjoyed gardening. Joseph loved his family and enjoyed playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was the last surviving member of 14 siblings.

Survived by: Daughter: Dorothy Ann Baldassaro; Sons: Mike Baldassaro, Joseph Baldassaro, Jr., Johnnie Baldassaro, Frank Baldassaro; Grandchildren: Holly, Jessica, Joseph, III, Tony, Jr., Cory, Samantha, Steven, Brandon, Ryan, Trent, Joannie, Amanda, Christopher, Brandon M.; 19 Great grandchildren; Also numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

He was preceded in death by his son Tony Baldassaro, Sr., wife of 67 years Dorothy Ann Champagne Baldassaro, parents Ottavio Baldassaro and Mary “Mamie” Ditta Baldassaro, brothers August Baldassaro, Peter Baldassaro, Vincent Baldassaro, Bennie Baldassaro, Nunzie Baldassaro, Salvador Baldassaro, sisters Sarah Latino, Carmen Baldassaro, Lena Margiotta, Mary Margiotta, Rosalie Baldassaro, Lucy Coker, Tina Parks and other family members.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:30 pm Thursday July 7th in the Baldassaro Family Cemetery on the family farm with Father Kyle Sanders officiating.
