Walter Larry Fland

February 7, 1959 - June 28, 2022

“I have fought a good fight; I have finished my course. I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give to me on that day; and not to me only, but also to all who have loved his appearing"

Walter Larry “Candyman” Fland was born on February 7, 1959, to the late Ora Dee Fland and the late Charles Brister. He was the oldest son of 10 siblings, and he would always remind us of that (one of his sayings to his sisters and brothers, was I am not the oldest for nothing).

He lived in Bogalusa, LA most of his life, then he went to Chicago, Ill., for a while, where he was a security guard. He then returned to Bogalusa to live until 2 years ago where he resided in Houston, TX with his sisters. He then returned to Bogalusa and resided here until his death.

Walter leaves to cherish his memories, one son, Cedric (Marsha) of Columbia, SC; three brothers: Chris (Marquitte) Fland of Allen, TX, Napoleon (Sherri) Fland of Garland, TX, Willie Maurice (Keywaun) Fland of Bogalusa, LA; five sisters: Mary (Dewayne) of Bogalusa, LA, LeAudrey (Stanley) of Augusta, GA, Toni Fland of Bogalusa, LA, Verneda Fland of Hammond, LA, and Amy (Jwayne) of Houston, TX; two grandchildren: Malasha and Niyah Weary of Columbia, SC; a special friend Velma Marie Magee of Bogalusa and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, the late Ora Dee Fland and his father, the late Charles Brister; his brother the late Danny Ray and his sister, the late Latunda Darlene, and grandparents, the late JD and Lettie Wee Fland.

The Funeral Service will be at 11:00 AM on July 2, 2022 at Crain an Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa, Louisiana.
