Obituary

William R. "Billy" Schilling

July 2, 1959 - June 21, 2022

William R. "Billy" Schilling, age 62 and a resident of Mt. Hermon, died at 9:34 AM Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at his home, after a lengthy illness. He was a lifetime member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church and a 1977 graduate of Bowling Green School. Billy was the owner/operator of Schilling Dairy for 35 years and he was honored to have hosted the Washington Parish Dairy Day at his farm. For many years, Billy was dedicated to the education of local youth through the Washington Parish 4-H Program and involved with dairy cow shows. Billy also served young people as a substitute teacher at Mt. Hermon School for several years. He was active in helping with Franklinton Girls Softball and Boys Dixie Youth Baseball, as well as, Mt. Hermon High School Basketball, where he operated the game clock for 25 years. Billy always enjoyed traveling when he could, including visiting the Smoky Mountains several times.

Survived by: Wife of 32 years: Laura Knox Schilling; Sons and Daughters in law: Benjamin and Keri Blades, Wayne and Summer Blades, Jeremy and Lesley Bridges, Kimberly Blades; Grandchildren: Dylan Clark, Tiffany Blades, Kolbi Blades, Benson Blades, Breland Blades, Erica Cameron; Great-grandchildren: Alaina Demar, Landan Newman; Siblings: Juiet G. and Melinda Schillings of Bolivar, Richard Schilling, Gale S. Williams, both of Franklinton; Sisters in law and Brothers in law: Susan and Adrian Wallace, Tim and Valeri Knox all of Kenner; Nephews and Nieces: Nick and Kristen Goings and their sons Maddox and Maverick all of Pine, Katherine S. and Wayne Verberne, Jr. of Bolivar, Chris Tetreau, Jared Knox, Stevie Marie Knox, Zachary Knox and their families

He was preceded in death by Parents Juiet W. “Doc” Schilling and Eleanor “Pete” Schilling, Niece Krystal Gale Goings Tetreau, Grandparents J. P. Alford and Connie Wilkes Alford, Silas N. Schilling and Lettie Mae Miller Schilling, Father in Law and Mother in Law Jimmie and Patti Knox, Brother in Law Jimmie Knox, Jr.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home on Friday, June 24, 2022 from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Scott Spinks officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery, (25393 Mt. Pisgah Road, Mt. Hermon, LA 70450).
