The Washington Parish Council received information Monday (May 23, 2022) evening from Washington Parish Animal Shelter Manager Kelsey Knight, Washington Parish School Board Superintendent Frances Varnado, and Washington Parish Library Director Sonnet Ireland.

The Council approved a resolution declaring surplus and/or scrap moveable property and authorized its disposal.
Parish President Richard Thomas (beginning at 16:35 into the video) reported on a successful Bogalusa Balloon Festival, announced that parish government offices would be closed May 30 in observance of Memorial Day, announced the new holiday “Juneteenth” to be observed this year June 17, announced that a Memorial Day Tribute will be held at 9:00 AM on May 30 at Veterans Memorial Park, and announced the Washington Parish Animal Shelter is sponsoring a Canine Carnival on June 11 at the Fairgrounds.
