Geaneail Magee

January 9, 1957 - May 8, 2022

Miss Geaneail Magee was born on January 9,1957 in Bogalusa, LA to the late Johnny Magee and Mrs. Juanita Brumfield Magee.  She departed from her earthly temple of May 8, 2022 at the St. Tammany Hospital in Covington, LA.

Geaneail attended school in Bogalusa and graduated in 1976 from Bogalusa High School.  She worked at the Avenue U YMCA CafĂ© for several years while she was in high school.  After graduation she moved to Detroit, Michigan.  Upon returning, she attended cosmetology school and worked for Crain and Son funeral home doing hair.

She worked with the children at Southeast Louisiana State Hospital in Mandeville, LA for several years. Geaneail loved to cook and spent most of her life cooking.  She worked as a personal cook for residents of Bogalusa.  She also worked as a cook at Sony’s Pizza in Bogalusa and later she continued to work as a cook for Bino’s. 

Geaneail was known as the candy and dixie cup lady.  She made some of the best dixie cups in town. She was a straight forward person and told you like it was.  She cut no corners, what came up came out.  She had a good heart and would give you the shirt off her back.

Geaneail attended church at Brown’s Temple AOH Church of God for many years under the leadership of Tate of Gulfport Mississippi.  She also attended Greater Bogalusa Church for several years. Lately she visited several different churches as her health permitted.

Miss Geaneail Magee leaves behind to cherish her memories her son Alfonzo Magee of Bogalusa, LA., her grandchildren Shantrice Lewis, Destiny Smith, Da’Jonique Smith, Brandon Morris Jr., JaKheem Smith, Azaria Anders and Terrance K. Magee all of Bogalusa, LA.  She also leaves a special nephew Willie Moses of Atlanta, GA whom she help raise. Her brother Larry Jacobs of Palms Springs, CA, her sister Jeanette Magee Jackson of Bogalusa, LA, her Aunt Ruth Muse of Bogalusa, LA and her Uncle Charles Ray (Odessa) Brumfield of Houma, LA.  Her sister-in-law Lorraine Magee of Houma, LA. Special Friends Donnamarie Newkirk and Debra Plummer.

Geaneail was proceeded in death by her parents John and Juanita Magee, her sister Diane Wilson, Her brother Johnny B. Magee Jr., her nephews Terrance Magee, Keith Magee and Johnny B Magee III, her nieces Samantha Magee and Tina Henry.

The memorial service will be 11:00A.M. on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Crain and Sons Funeral Home with Reverend Christopher Matthews – Pastor Officiating.
