David Scott Barnes

September 2, 1972 - February 23, 2022

David Scott Barnes, age 49, passed peacefully at his home in Carencro, LA on February 23, 2022.

He graduated from Pine High School and attended Louisiana State University (LSU), where the lifelong friendships of Eric Norwood, Gary Rochelle, Christopher Coleman, and Austin Little (Scooter) were made.

Scott worked at Commander's Palace in New Orleans, LA from 1996 until Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Commander's Palace was where he met his wife, Deborah. Scott was hired as a manager for Cracker Barrel Restaurants and finished his career as the General Manager of the Lafayette store.

His pride and joy were his daughters Mya and Ava. He valued a great education and a strong work ethic. He enjoyed being with family and friends, barbecuing, watching LSU sports, and his 49ers. 

Scott was preceded in death by his father and mother, Bruce and Vinie Barnes, and his sister, Lori Weary.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife Deborah and daughters Mya and Ava; his second mom, Norma L. Brumfield; his sisters Angela Mills and Tondra Tate; brothers Lawrence, Chris, and Toney Brumfield; along with a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2022 at 1:00PM at Crain and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Terrence August – Officiating. 

Crain and Sons Funeral Home, Franklinton are in charge of arrangements.
