Devin James Gonzales

August 1, 1990 - February 25, 2022

Devin James Gonzales, age 31, passed away at his home on Friday, February 25, 2022. 

Devin was a member of Poplarville High School’s class of 2008, graduating with high honors. He then went to Millsaps College, winning his first National Football Championship in 2009. Devin was also an accomplished missionary through Bethel Baptist Church. He made many trips to other countries to spread the good news of the gospel. 

He leaves to cherish his memories, his mother, Buffy (Wayne) Mizell, his father, Spike (Pam) Gonzales, a sister, Elizabeth Hope Amacker, three brothers Blake Nielsen, Dustin Carson and Logan Gonzales, grandmother Linda “Nana” Jenkins, great grandmother Wanda Knight. He also leaves behind his stepfather Edward “Butch” Amacker.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather and grandmother David and Mildred Samford and his paternal great grandparents Milton and April Knight. 

A light to all he encountered, Devin’s presence here on Earth will be missed sorely. We rejoice that his battle is now over and he has peace.

Services will be at Brown-McGehee Funeral Home in Bogalusa, Louisiana. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the Funeral Service at 2:00 PM. Interment will be at Ponemah Cemetery.
