Winzlo Tate, Sr.

May 8, 1933 - February 23, 2022

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: II Timothy 4:7

Early Wednesday morning at 11:30 on February 23, 2022. God called his solder to come and follow him.

In 1950 Winzlo Tate, Sr. joined the World War II Army in Fort Worth, Texas. He served until 1953.

Bro. Winzlo Tate, Sr. quietly slipped away to his eternal home, not a whimper, nor pain, and he was gone, God whispered come home my child and rest from your labor of job Well Done!

Bro. Winzlo Tate, Sr. was born on May 8, 1933 in Franklinton to the late Mr. Artis ad Juanita (Magee) Tate. He joined the New Jerusalem Baptist Church at an early age.

He was married to the late Carnell (Warren) Tate and to this union seven children were born.

He was preceded in death by his lovely devoted wife, Mrs. Carnell (Warren) Tate; one beautiful daughter, Denise Tate Bickham; his parents, Mr. Artis (Juanita) Tate; one sister, Jeanette (Tate) Hart; one brother, Wardell Tate; one son-in-law, Wallace Walker.

He leaves to cherish his memories two beautiful daughters, Kathy Tate Walker, and Edith (Kenneth) Warren both of Franklinton, LA; four sons, Elder Jimmy (Nettie Lee) Tate, Cedric (Jeanette) Tate, and Alton Tate all of Franklinton, LA, and Winzlo Tate, Jr. of Slidell, LA; son-in-law, Curtis Bickham, Sr. of Franklinton, LA; one sister, Brenda Jonell (Bernard) Magee and   one sister-in-law, Audrey Tate; one brother-in-law, Calis Hart; 18 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A drive through viewing will be on Monday, February 28, 2022 at Crain and Sons Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at 11:00AM at Crain and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Clinton Dillon - Officiating. Interment will be at the Greater Hayes Creek Cemetery. 

Crain and Sons Funeral Home, Franklinton are in charge of arrangements.
