Joseph L. "Joe" Magee

September 4, 1950 - February 17, 2022

Joseph L. "Joe" Magee, age 71 and a resident of Franklinton, passed away Thursday morning February 17, 2022 at Riverside Medical Center. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and as a young man served his community and country in the Louisiana Army-National Guard. Joe was a manager at Magee Financial in Franklinton, also working in numerous other capacities during his 38 years of dedicated service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time in the outdoors. Joe was a past member of the Franklinton Lion’s Club that loved watching Old Western movies and TV shows. He had a great voice and was a talented singer, and as a member of the Franklinton Community Theater held prominent roles in the productions of “The Wizard of Oz”, “The Odd Couple” and others. Joe always enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and loved taking his grandchildren on vacation.

Survived by: Wife of 35 years: Gwen Magee of Franklinton; 3 Children: Joseph Brandon “Bobby” Magee of Franklinton, Spencer Magee, Amanda Magee both of Lubbock, TX; Grandchildren: Jaxon Becker, Ezra Becker, Christina Becker and their father Andy Becker of Wisconsin; Brother and Sister in law: Don and Susan Magee of Brandon, MS; Niece: Patty Smith; Also numerous cousins and many dear friends

He was preceded in death by daughter Megan Louise Magee Becker, infant daughter Adrian Magee, parents Ezra Magee and Louise Nielson Magee, grandparents Joe and Susie Nielson, nephew Kenneth Magee.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Friday February 25th from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Visitation will continue Saturday at Hillcrest Baptist Church (2201 Washington Street, Franklinton) from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. A funeral service will be held in the church at 11:00 am Saturday with Dr. Gene Richards officiating. Burial will follow in the Stateline United Pentecostal Church Cemetery.
