Obituary

James Edward Crain

March 21, 1950 - February 18, 2022

James Edward Crain, age 71 and a resident of Franklinton, passed away Friday morning February 18, 2022 at St. Tammany parish Hospital. He attended Thomas School before serving his country in the Vietnam War. James worked in construction and as a mechanic then later in a long career at Raybourn Correctional Center before retiring. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church. James loved to ride his tractor and take care of his beef cows. He enjoyed gardening and had a passion for growing beautiful flowers, which he inherited from his mother. James was a loving husband, father and Paw Paw but most important was his love for his savior Jesus Christ.

Survived by: Wife of 24 years: Tawnia Dunaway Crain; Children and Spouses: Shanda and Mark Andreoni, Candi Thomas, Justin Crain, Glenn and Heather Gordon, Stewart and Jasmin Gordon, Joshua and Mallarie Gordon; Grandchildren: Logan, Tyler, Anakin, Blakelee, Caleb, Emersyn, Savannah, Ella, Easton, Braylie, Carter Lynn, Danni Ann; Brother: Richard Crain; Sisters and Brothers in law: Catherline and Bobby Gerald, Carrie and Charlie Harris, Mary Jane Crain, Linda Sue and Larry McCain; Also numerous nieces, nephews and other family members

He was preceded in death by his parents Wilbur Crain and Lilly Whitehead Crain, brother Wilfred “Pete” Crain.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Thursday February 24th from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 7:00 pm Thursday with Rev. Harold Gaddy officiating. Per his wishes, James will be cremated following the services.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org or a mail-in option is also available through the website.
