Saralyne Jenkins DeDon

August 15, 1934 - January 29, 2022

Saralyne Jenkins DeDon, age 87 and a longtime resident of Mount Hermon, passed away at her home in Greensburg Saturday morning January 29, 2022. She was born August 15, 1934 to the late Ilos William Jenkins and Wilma Dykes Jenkins. Saralyne loved her church work as a Sunday school teacher, Prayer Warrior and the first son leader at First Pentecostal Church of Franklinton when the church began under Bro, Roy Dykes. She spent her working years at Rutter Rex for over 20 years and later at Barber’s CafĂ© until she retired. Saralyne loved her family, her flowers and cooking.

Survived by: 5 Children and Spouses: Charles DeDon, Sr. and Linda DeDon of Franklinton, Sharon and Ronnie McDonald of Natchez, MS, Judy Travis, Ronnie DeDon both of Greensburg, Patricia and Johnny Spears of Church Point, LA; Grandchildren and Spouses: Charles DeDon, Jr. and Stephanie DeDon of Franklinton, Christie Moreau of New Orleans, Jay and Cassie DeDon of Folsom, Debbie Mize of Elps, LA, Ronnie McDonald of Bernice, LA, David McDonald of Rayville, LA, Robbie Hunter, Jr. and Shelly Hunter of Walker, Shaun McDonald of Natchez, Albert Cecchi, Sr. of Greensburg, Lee and Kristina Deering of Bogalusa, Tori Cecchi of Greensburg, C.J. Dickens of Franklinton, Jessica Dickens, Katie Speard, Lindsey Spears all of Baton Rouge; Also 30 Great-grandchildren and 18 Great-great-grandchildren

She was also preceded in death by her husband of 54 years Ray DeDon, son in law Gene Travis, great-grandson Allen DeDon, sister Essie Mitchell, brothers William Jenkins, Denman Jenkins.

Visitation will be at Mt. Hermon United Pentecostal Church (37300 Sunny Hill Road, Mt. Hermon) on Saturday February 5th from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the church at 2:00 pm Saturday with Rev. Randall Garcia and Rev. Jimmy Hill officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
