Steven Robert Jones

September 15, 1927 - January 6, 2022

Steven Robert Jones, age 94 and a resident of the Oak Grove Community, died late Friday night January 6, 2022 at his home. He was a longtime self-employed dairyman and a talented tractor mechanic for Green International Tractor in Franklinton for many years. Robert was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. He enjoyed white perch fishing and squirrel and quail hunting. Robert truly loved bird hunting with his dogs, especially his favorite Irish Setter “Bob”. He was always a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Survived by: Wife of 74 years: Patricia Green Jones of Oak Grove; 3 Daughters and Sons in law: Pearl and Freddie Ballard, Janice Thigpen and John Thigpen, Jr., all of Oak Grove, Colleen Creel of Bogalusa; Son and Daughter in law: Pete and Pat Bennett of Bogalusa; Grandchildren and Spouses: Robert and Kelly Ballard, Rachael Ballard, Melissa and Scottie Simon, Steven Mathews, Daniel and Gretchen Mathews, Michael and Samantha Mathews; 17 Great-grandchildren; 4 Great-great-grandchildren; Sisters and a Brother in law: Carolyn and Sal Scimemi, Marlene Tannehill, Charlotte Jones; Also numerous nieces, nephews and other family members

He was preceded in death by his parents Steve Jones and Philonia Stogner Jones, son in law J.T. Creel

A private family viewing will be held Tuesday January 11th at Oak Grove Baptist Church from 10:30 am until 12:30 pm. The public is invited to join the family for a 1:00 pm graveside funeral service Tuesday in the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Derek Dantin officiating
